The Canton Main Street Advisory Board is a volunteer, working board appointed by the Canton Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors with final approval by the City Council. The Advisory Board sets the policies and work plans for the Main Street Program, including budget, projects, fundraising, design review, and business support and recruitment. Each board member must serve on at least one of the following committees: Promotion, Design, and Organization.

Each board member must be able and willing to commit 4 to 10 hours of their time each month and more time during events when needed.

Some projects of the Canton Main Street Program in the past have been: coordinating the renovation of downtown sidewalks to include ADA accessibility, period lampposts, trash receptacles, trees and benches; purchasing festive seasonal banners and lining the building tops with white lights; assisting downtown building owners with exterior renovations through design assistance and incentive grants; hosting the annual Autumn Festival, free outdoor events, Dinner on Main Street a producers only farmers market and holiday activities in the downtown area; providing co-op advertising opportunities for downtown merchants; serving as advocate of Downtown.
